This is a RARE handsewn 48 star U.S.(marked) Naval Union Jack flown somewhere between 1912 and 1959. Appears to be WW2 era or older. This flag shows definite age and use. There are multiple small holes, but the overall is intact and was professionally mounted and framed with the flag being sewn onto a backing cloth. The frame has a lightweight acrylic insted of glass. The name Union Jack is visible on the flag. The photos show wrapping as it is prepared to ship. Over all measurement in the frame is 52"x37". It comes with a wall hanging bracket. The 48 star flag became official in 1912 following the addition of New Mexico and Arizona. 48 remained the official star count throughout WWI, WWII, and the Korean War (1950-53), until Alaska gained statehood in 1959 and the 49th star was added.
BONUS ITEM!
As a bonus with the flag is a vintage (most likely WW2) U.S. Naval Commander's white dress cap. This cap shows some wear and fading and yellowing and the band is coming out as displayed in the photos.
