This is a badge from the Soviet Union probably from 1974, promoting the Hero Cities. "...Hero Cities were sites of major battles of WW2 in which extremely valiant military action occurred, or the military and civilian population acted together in their defense. each Hero City was awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union medal (Hero Star). All have amazing stories to read about. Leningrad, Stalingrad, Sevastopol, and Odessa were the first recipients in 1945. then Kiev in 1961. Then Moscow and Brest in 1965. 1973 brought Kerch and Novorossiysk. Minsk (1974). Tula (1976). and Murmansk and Smolensk in 1985..." This pin appears to be pewter. The pin is approximately 1 1/4 " tall by 1" wide.
