THIS IS A VINTAGE LATE 50'S TO 60'S TYPE E-1 RADIO VEST, MIL-V-5876A IN MEDIUM SIZE
The E-1 Vest" supplied and adopted by the U.S. Air Force in the 1950s, the purpose of use is as indicated by the formal name "Vest, Radio Carrier Type E-1", pilot and air crew radio (URC-4) It is carried around and is usually equipped with dedicated pockets for storing radios under the left and right sides for its limited purpose. Both of the two decals have many peeled surfaces due to aging due to long-term storage, making it difficult to read the entire decal.
ALL SNAPS AND ZIPPERS ARE IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION. BOTH RADIO POCKETS HAVE IDENTICAL CUTS ACROSS THE ANTENNA LEATHER. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS WAS A PILOT ADAPTATION OR A DESIGN FEATURE, BUT IT IS ON BOTH POCKETS. RESEARCH INCIATES THERE WAS AN EARLIER VERSION IN BLUE FOR THE EARLY 50'S
