THIS IS WW2 FRENCH/BELGIUM SOLDIER GLASS CLEANING KIT. THE ITEMS FOR SALE ARE 1 GLASS CLEANING SOAP STICK, AND 1 CONTAINER OF CLEAR LENS PANES. THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR BOTH ITEMS ARE WRITTEN IN FRENCH WITH GERMAN ON THE REVERSE SIDE. THEY ARE BOTH SIGNED BY THE TECHNICAL SERVICE, WHICH COULD POTENTIALLY HAVE THE TRANSLATION "WAR ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT" IN THE GERMAN AND APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN ISSUED TOGETHER. THE GERMAN INTSRUCTIONS ARE NEAR THE CONTAINERS AND THE FRENCH INSTRUCTIONS ARE SHOWN SEPERATELY TO AID IN TRANSLATION IF NECESSARY.
THE TRANSLATION FOR THE BRASS COLORED BOX FROM FRENCH IS:
Treatment of ocularies with anti-fog soap
(Is used, when the removal of the fog by the air circulation is not done, when it is insufficient or when the anti-fog washers are lacking)
Dry clean the inside surface of the glasses and dab three to four light strokes with the anti-fog soap. Distribute the soap by rubbing the surface of the glass with a dry cloth, until the glass becomes completely transparent. During prolonged use of the mask, this ocular treatment will be repeated on each occasion. Eyeglass lenses will be treated the same, but on both sides.
THE TRANSLATION FOR THE ROUND SCREW TOP IS:
Anti-fog washers and their maintenance
Anti-fog washers are necessary to keep eyepieces fog-free in cold weather. They are placed inside the mask against the cleaned and dry lenses and are held by means of ring springs. When using the mask, the surface of these washers softens under the effect of the moisture in the exhaled air. The washers should therefore not be touched before they are dry again. Make sure that no drop of water gets on the anti-fog washer. The dry anti-fog washers are cleaned with a dry, soft cloth. Hard objects (fingernails etc.) deteriorate the anti-fog washers even if they are dry.
THE BRASS COLORED BOX MEASURES APPROXIMATELY 2 3/8 " X 1 3/8" AND IS APPROXIMATELY 3/8" THICK IT HAS SOME DENTS AND DINGS FROM AGE BUT APPEARS TO BE UNISSUED. THE GLASS SOAP TUBE IS INTACT BUT AGED AS IS THE CLEANING CLOTH AS IT HAS SOME STAINING. THE LID WAS NOT OPENED TO PRESERVE BOTH THE LID AND THE TUBE CONTENTS FROM BREAKAGE.
THE ROUND SCREW TOP CONTAINER IS APPROXIMATELY 2 3/8" IN DIAMETER AND 3/8" THICK AND APPEARS NEW. THERE ARE SEVERAL CLEAR LENS PAINS IN THE JAR THEY WERE KEPT RELATIVELY INTACT AND NOT COUNTED TO AVOID DAMAGE.
